Curricular programs of English and other world languages, implemented at Vizyon College are structured and managed by our academic team. For this reason, English education is the leading field where Vizyon College is most ambitious in and makes a difference.
World-Class Foreign Language Education
World Standards in Foreign Language Education
English education at our school is based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). The CEFR is used to describe and measure students' language skills around the world.
CEFR is a method of showing how well you can speak and understand a foreign language. If, like most Europeans, you have learned more than one language, the CEFR is a convenient and standard method for showing two or more languages on your resume. CEFR is the standard framework used in schools and universities in Europe and can be used without preconditions. Foreign language groups at Vizyon College are formed by measuring students according to CEFR standards.
Communication Focused Approach
English education programs at Vizyon College are prepared in accordance with the principles of "Communicative Approach".
The basic philosophy of teaching English in our school is based on the fact that language is a social entity. A student taking an English course should enjoy doing this, see the connection of every work he does with real life, and be able to make English a natural part of his daily life by “internalizing” it. For this, the education system and course programs include intensive interactive studies in every field. The communication language of the English course at all levels is English only.
Program Empowered with Learning Technologies
Digital learning platforms integrate the foreign language into students' lives without time and place limitations.
In our school, interactive digital learning platforms enriched with artificial intelligence technologies, which are the tools of blended learning, are used efficiently in foreign language teaching. In this way, language learning processes are extended outside the school, and the student is both supported to learn at his own pace and more exposed to the target language. Another advantage of learning technologies is that each student's learning effort and development can be monitored in detail and individual-specific measures and solutions can be developed.
Bilingual Preschool Program
Our students perform their studies in Turkish in one half of the day and in English in the other half.
Preschool education at Vizyon College is an integral part of the primary school education program. The Preschool English program is also an extension of the Primary School English program. In this context, studies conducted in pre-school groups show great similarities with the primary school curriculum. The purpose of the Preschool English program is to create sympathy and motivation for learning with the awareness of communicating in another language. In the preschool program, a skill development program is implemented in the mother tongue and in the English education, with the same theme and target learning outcomes. Our students perform their studies in Turkish in one half of the day and in English in the other half.
Through storytelling, language games, creative drama and project studies, which are methods of learning by doing and living, students spend time with the English language and are exposed to the language. Only English is used as the language of communication in classes. Education is enriched with interactive digital platforms and ensures that learning continues at home. Assessment is carried out with rubrics, projects and portfolio studies prepared according to the features and objectives of the program.
To Gain Communication Confidence in the Target Foreign Language in Primary School
The aim of the primary school English program is to create awareness of communicating in another language, to create sympathy and motivation to learn about the English language, and to prepare the student for the intensive English preparation program that will be applied in the 5th grade.
The program, which is planned with a process and development focus, starts with English literacy education. At this stage, students learn to read the most commonly used words in the English language with the correct pronunciation and develop a predisposition to understand and use these words. This study will give them great advantage and speed in the learning process, which will be concentrated on, especially in secondary school. Through storytelling, language games, creative drama and project studies, which are methods of learning by doing and living, students spend time with the English language and are exposed to the language. Only English is used as the language of communication. Assessment is carried out with performance evaluation rubrics and project studies, prepared according to the features and objectives of the program. At the end of each year, students make an English portfolio presentation to their parents. Year-end progress of students is determined by Trinity College GESE application in 3rd and 4th grades. The application in the form of an oral interview is done individually for each student by experts from the U.K. and students are given a Trinity College certificate showing their level.
Secondary School Years are a Leap for English
5th grade is the English preparatory year at Vizyon College. In the English hour, the school turns into a language school. From the 6th grade onwards, studies for protection, development and special purposes are carried out.
In the preparatory class, students are given intensive English education. Starting from the 6th grade, the English course continues with protection, development and special-purpose studies. The English language curriculum consists of 2 main courses: Integrated Skills and Core Skills. Student performance is monitored by using artificial intelligence technologies, lesson tracking scales and homework charts. The student's contact with a foreign language is provided with weekend and daily assignments. In addition, project assignments, performance assignments, presentation preparation, book reading assignments for mid-term and summer holidays are given. The accreditation goal of secondary school English education is to obtain a Cambridge PET certificate documenting B1 level. However, the program has the potential to make it possible for students who wish to reach higher levels. Vizyon College's foreign language education model was structured by targeting world citizenship. We know very well that individuals who have learned to learn will make a difference in the future.
